Tough economy reveals welfare reform's successes

USA Today's editorial discusses recently released statistics that adult health insurance & poverty rates have increased. The statistics for children in these areas have remained the same. While I question if this really tells the whole story, USA Today highlights some good policies that have helped: such as generous child care subsidies and income supports.

One of the the reasons I think Walk a Mile is so valuable, is that as public officials get to know individual welfare parents, they learn that reality is more complicated than the statistics show.
